Sia Gupta is a dedicated student at Modern School Barakhamba, where she currently studies Physics, Chemistry, Math, Economics, and English. In college, Sia hopes to major in English Literature, focusing on Race and Ethnicity, and has already made significant strides in pursuit of this goal. Her achievements include receiving “The Millennial Change Makers Award” and “Best Poetry” for her contributions to Indian literature.
Sia began working on the "Fairy Tales in Rhyme" series, which included classic stories like Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, and Snow White, and received the Federation of Indian Publishers Award for this series. She was invited to speak to more than 5000 students across 10 schools, both in person and online, in a series of talks called "10 Tips to Publish at 10"
Building on this experience, Sia went on to write "Mahabharata in Rhyme", a retelling of the Indian epic in a format that would be more accessible to younger demographics. Her research for this project involved studying different texts of the Mahabharata, such as the translation by Namita Gokhale, and "Jaya" by Dev Dutt Patnaik.
Her work on both the "Fairy Tales in Rhyme" series and "Mahabharata in Rhyme" has led to her being invited as a panelist at literature festivals like the Times of India LitFest (September 2021), the Sahitya Akademi LitFest (March 2023), and the World Book Fair (March 2023).
Sia’s commitment to her passions is further demonstrated through her participation in esteemed programs such as the Wharton Global Youth Program and the Iowa Young Writers Studio. Sia’s commitment to educational development is further highlighted by the contributions she made to the NCERT, writing Math textbooks for Grades 1 and 2, as well as regularly volunteering at Adharshila, a Delhi-based NGO where she supported the education of children from underserved and underrepresented communities. She helped students from Grades 5 to 8 study the fundamentals of English grammar and literature through interactive methods including storytelling and writing.
Beyond her passions for academic and social work, Sia is a talented Kathak performer and plays the piano.
